Golf

Many types of clubs including a driver, a putter, and irons are used to hit a ball into each hole on a golf course in the lowest possible number of strokes.

The game is played on golf courses, each one of which has a unique design and typically consisting of either 9 or 18 holes.

Golf competition is generally played as stroke play, in which the individual with the lowest number of strokes is declared the winner. Golf is a competitive sport, and a very popular recreational activity.

Golf strengthens the back and shoulders, and helps to maintain spine rotation, necessary for a healthy back.

There are two contrasting parts to the game. On the tee, power is used to hit the ball as close to the hole as possible.

The tee shot requires considerable strength in the upper body, and flexibility in the back and legs. When on the green, great muscle control and accuracy are needed to putt the ball delicately into the hole.

Golf was first incorporated into the Asian Games in 1982.
