Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, October 3, 2019: The Flame Handover Ceremony for the 30th Southeast Asian Games Torch Relay was successfully conducted at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Thursday, October 3.
The Ceremony was witnessed by officials from the Governments of Malaysia and the Philippines, and officials from the Olympic Council of Malaysia and its Philippines’ counterpart.
The 30th SEA Games will be held in the Philippines from November 30 to December 11. A record 56 sports will be staged mainly in New Clark City.
Dato Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria, President of the Olympic Council of Malaysia, thanked the Philippines SEA Games Organising Committee for continuing the SEA Games Torch Relay which is a symbol of friendship and peace.
“The SEA Games Torch Relay will strengthen Olympic values of friendship, excellence and respect among the community in Southeast Asia,” said Zakaria.
Ramon Suzara, Chief Operating Officer of organising committee PHISGOC, said they were working hard to organise the biggest ever SEA Games in history with help from the Government of Philippines, the Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippine Sports Commission.
Dr. Celia Kiram, a Commissioner at Philippine Sports Commission, said Malaysia, host of the 2017 event, had raised the benchmark of the SEA Games for the Philippine to achieve. She thanked the Government of Malaysia and the Olympic Council of Malaysia for the support to ensure the success of the Flame Handover Ceremony.
The Ceremony began with the 30th SEA Games theme song performed by famous Filipino singers, Anthony Castillo and Gidget dela Llana.
