Tehran, Iran, October 24, 2019: Iran’s squad of eight athletes each won a gold medal to finish runners-up to powerhouse China at the 15th World Wushu Championships in which ended in Shanghai on Wednesday, October 23.
Iran’s squad comprised of five men and three women in the Sanda competitions and they each finished with a gold medal in their different weight categories.
In the women’s competition, Maryam Hashemi (65kg), Shahrbanoo Mansourian (70kg) and Elaheh Mansourian (75kg) won three golds.
In the men’s category, Erfan Ahangarian (65kg), Ali Khorshidi (80kg), Mohsen Mohammed Seifi (70kg), Milad Arefi (85kg) and Yousef Sabri (75kg) bagged the gold medals.
In the total medals table of Taolu and Sanda, Iran finished runners-up with eight golds, three silver and one bronze while China topped the standings with 12 golds and a bronze medal.
More than 1,000 athletes from 100 countries participated in the 15th edition of the World Wushu Championships.
