Asian NOCs to receive detailed Tokyo 2020 briefing at regional forums

Bangkok, Thailand, October 23, 2019: The Olympic Council of Asia’s two regional forums in Bangkok next month will focus on final preparations for the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020.

The forums will be held in cooperation with the IOC’s Olympic Solidarity. National Olympic Committee delegates from East Asia and South East Asia will gather on November 3-4 and NOCs from West Asia, Central Asia and South Asia will meet on November 5-6.

With the next summer Olympics due to take place from July 24 to August 9, NOC delegates will be taken through the final steps in preparing their teams for Tokyo 2020.

Preparation topics on the first day of the forum will include the sports competitions, accreditation, medical services, anti-doping, marketing, grants and subsidies available to NOCs and the arrival and departure procedures.

The second day will continue on the “Road to Tokyo” with the role of the Chef de Mission, Tokyo 2020 updates on the Olympic Village, transport, logistics, ticketing, food and beverage, accommodation, cultural “dos and don’ts” and communication to athletes.

The second afternoon of the forum will also include updates on the OCA’s next three multi-sport games: the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China in 2020, the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Shantou, China in 2021 and the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China in 2022.

There will also be an opportunity for one-on-one meetings with Tokyo 2020 department representatives.

The regional forums will take place at the Arnoma Grand Hotel Bangkok.
